Philippine Pre-Colonial Sketch Dump pt. 1

Genre;  History   Strategy   Heroes

...

What comes to mind when I say Philippine Pre-Colonial Era. Is it Warriors? Epic Lores? Weapons? Dudes in bahag? No Idea? Philippine Pre-Colonial (let’s call it PPC, instead) Era (or the time before the Spaniards came) takes us back in time when Filipino land wasn’t called Philippines yet. It’s also a popular theme used in TVs, movies, and games (usually given a modern twist) to portray a very Filipino ancestral touch.

Can you name some more?

Moving on, I’m in the mood to do something very Filipino. Something that digs right in the roots. Whenever I hear PPC Era, the word Pintados always come to mind. Pintados are warriors rumored to gain strength from their tattoos. But only those who have gone through battles are worthy of these tattoos. That means, the more tattoos you have, the more awesome you get!

What do you mean, we're shy? We just have sore-eyes... That's all.

And thinking more about it, gaining a tattoo means earning a rank more than your co-warriors! It’s like one of those leveling up schemes in RPGs! Except you get to choose what to paint on your body. Every tattoo you choose gives you a stat boost, or a new skill. Think about it...

What game are we talking about? We’ll keep it a secret for now... You can try and guess! Any Indigo Entertainment employee spilling the beans gets to buy us pizza. I’ll update with more sketches and raw concepts as we develop this thing. :D

How about you? What comes to mind when you hear Philippine Pre-Colonial?

@Ramir:
If they are not wearing bahag, they are wearing skirts!
Bahag is manlier than the sissy skirts!!! haha

Because they have a more dugong bughaw-ish social class that's why they have more treasures in paying for more inches of clothing-- which turns into a skirt instead of a bahag! harhar.
